Unfortunately there is no definitive answer to this question as there are many variables to factor for each individual patient.
Our Fertility planning brochure discusses the typical process that we recommend following so do take a look. As a starting point we would recommend booking an Initial Fertility consultation to discuss your history and begin the process where you will be lead through the steps of medication and investigations.

PLEASE NOTE: The Infertility consultation package does not include the cost of medication, blood tests, HSG etc.

Success rates vary depending on factors such as age, fertility history, and treatment type.
Where a patient follows the recommended pathway, takes advice and medication as instructed the typical success rate is good.

From the initial consultation to the outcome of tests is typically around 3 months.
Should a pregnancy not occur after the completion of tests & 4-5 cycles, further consultation is recommended to discuss the various options. If an abnormality is found, Mr. Penman will discuss the various options.

Studies show that for women with 3+ previous miscarriages, taking additional progesterone can significantly increase the chance of a successful live birth however It is important to understand that is not effective for everyone.

Dr Penman can privately prescribe Progesterone however will only do so after completing a 6 week viability scan to determine a heartbeat is present.

The administration cost of writing a prescription is £25.00, which includes a letter for your GP records.

After an initial in person consultation, patients will receive test results via their Egress platform. Dr Penman does not manage patients via email or phone call so should you wish to discuss any elements of your pathway then do make a follow up appointment to see him at the Hempstead Therapy Centre

If you don’t follow the prescribed dosage you are likely to suffer various adverse effects such as bloating, severe abdominal pain, headaches & may feel generally unwell. Dr Penman reserves the right to refuse further treatment. It is important that you do not share your medication with others as prescriptions are monitored closely.
Mr Penman prescribes ovulation stimulation medication to be taken exactly as prescribed, should you change this, he cannot be responsible for the outcome.  Hyperstimulation syndrome is a very serious condition and recommended dosages are given to control ovulation and ensure this does not happen.

Should patients require a repeat prescription, they are to text or email Helen at least 1 week before your cycle is due so that a prescription can be arranged for you. Please include your full name and date of birth to do this & will confirm when the prescription is available to collect.
If ovulation hasn’t successfully occurred after 3 cycles using Letrozole, please book a follow up consultation appointment with Dr Penman.

We would recommend booking a scan appointment for a viability scan 3 weeks after the first positive pregnancy test. Dr Penman performs these 6 days a week at his clinic at Hempstead Therapy Centre in Gillingham. You can book with us online.

No, Dr Penman doesn’t offer IVF treatment; the consultations and treatment pathways he does offer are recommended steps to undergo before IVF.
Should a patient be unable to successfully fall pregnant after investigations or treatment with Dr Penman, he will typically recommend IVF treatment with his colleague Mr Tarek El-Toukhy a Private IVF specialist based with Guys & St Thomas’.
