Who conducts the gynaecology consultations and procedures?

Dr. Penman, Consultant Fetal Medicine Specialist, conducts the gynaecology consultations and procedures.

Dr. Penman has over 25 years experience as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Fetal Medicine Specialist. He has a fully private baby scan and gynaecology clinic based in Kent, England, and specialises in numerous areas, including prenatal screening and diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, recurrent miscarriage, and infertility.

Dr. Penman will conduct the appointment and help you decide on the best course of treatment for you, including whether or not you need to have further tests or investigations.

How long are the appointments?

Appointment times vary, but usually, they take around 20-30 minutes.

When you arrive at the hospital, you will be welcomed by a member of the hospital staff who will check you in and let Dr. Penman know you have arrived. The time you have booked for your appointment is the time you will be seen – there are no waiting times when you book to see Dr. Penman privately.

Dr. Penman will come to greet you and show you to the consultation room where he will take your medical history. Throughout the appointment, Dr. Penman will make diagnoses based on your symptoms and medical history and/or refer you for more tests and investigations if necessary. He will answer any questions you may have about your health and treatment/investigations plan.

Self-referring patients

Dr. Penman will see self-referring patients (those without a GP letter).  However, please note that if you are using a private health insurance policy to fund your treatment, your insuring company may require a referral letter from your GP.

NHS funded patients

Dr. Penman no longer works for the NHS but he continues to see NHS-funded patients under the ECN (Choose and Book) system at the Spire Alexandra Hospital and Kent Institute of Medicine and Surgery (KIMS).

Please note, if you are an ECN (Choose and Book) patient, and seeing Dr. Penman as an NHS-funded patient, please call the appropriate hospital (contact details).  Unfortunately, Helen, Dr. Penman’s private secretary, does not have access to your records.
